Utrecht Tallahassee has a new service for you, antique and art restoration.   I  am going to hand this over to her to tell a little about herself and what she brings to the Utrecht table!

Hello everybody!  My name is Moe Murphy.  I was recently hired by Miss Kim to do framing, and restoration for Utrecht.  At the moment I am cleaning one half of a painting to show what an amazing difference it makes.  We will display the painting in our store and post photos as soon as it is complete.  I love giving new life to an old piece through restoration and conservation.  I am amazed every time I clean a painting how much glory the original colors actually possessed.  Years of dust, the yellowing of old varnish, and cigar or cigarette smoke can completely obscure beautiful vibrant colors into a muddy vestige of what it really is under it all.   Everything I do is removable, and I use the proper materials- so that in another 200 years more damage is not incured.  I love the history and the discovery of each artist’s way of handling the brush or their language of color for each piece.   They are all as unique as the individual that created them.  So if you have a wonderful painting and it needs a little tender loving care, let us know.  We would be happy to help you bring it back to it’s original beauty.  Thanks for reading, Moe.

Great News!

We now have not one but two new framers here at Utrecht Tallahassee! 

 David Woods is from Panama City.  He is also an artist and a photographer. He does portrait and event photography and commisioned artwork.  He will be having some of his stuff hanging in our store soon.  Come in and check it out!

Maureen Murphy (Moe) is from West Palm Beach, Fl.  She came to Tallahassee for the Landrum Project, and decided to stay.  She is skilled in many different art techniques so feel free to ask her anything!    Moe will be doing the Art and Antique restoration here in the store.  Some of her previous work was for Donald Trump, Rush Limbaugh, Cedric DuPont Aniques, Henemader Antiques, and Sally Phelps. 

Her Skills include ceramics, printing/etching, illustration , paint finish and restoration including faux finishes, composite gilding, 24 catat gilding, patination, plasterwork marble repair, ceramic restoration, restoration and conservation of varnished wood, veneer and marquetry repair, and Much Much More!!!

Hello!

The Utrecht Tallahassee store will be having a Speedball Screenprinting demo on Sunday, March 9th from 1:00 until 4:00 pm. During that time our associate Jared will be showing the steps to successful screen printing. He is also new at this project and has been practicing for the past couple weeks.

If you would like to come down and give some pointers I am sure he and the fellow “students” would greatly appreciate it.

Hello, my name is Kim I am the manager of Store #37 in Tallahassee.   I have been working at Utrecht for 2 years.

I make artist trading cards and multimedia art.

We are located on the corner of Mahan and Magnolia in the Mahan Square Plaza. Utrecht Tallahassee is a full service art supplies store carrying products from hundreds of national brands. We also do board cutting and custom framing.

My assistant manager Dannielle has experience in drawing.  She has a great creative mind and enough knowledge to help in any media.

Robert in framing is a certified custom framing with 5 years of custom framing experience.
