Utrecht Tallahassee has a new service for you, antique and art restoration. I am going to hand this over to her to tell a little about herself and what she brings to the Utrecht table!
Hello everybody! My name is Moe Murphy. I was recently hired by Miss Kim to do framing, and restoration for Utrecht. At the moment I am cleaning one half of a painting to show what an amazing difference it makes. We will display the painting in our store and post photos as soon as it is complete. I love giving new life to an old piece through restoration and conservation. I am amazed every time I clean a painting how much glory the original colors actually possessed. Years of dust, the yellowing of old varnish, and cigar or cigarette smoke can completely obscure beautiful vibrant colors into a muddy vestige of what it really is under it all. Everything I do is removable, and I use the proper materials- so that in another 200 years more damage is not incured. I love the history and the discovery of each artist’s way of handling the brush or their language of color for each piece. They are all as unique as the individual that created them.
